High Speed Rail

TranSys Research Ltd. offers expertise related to technology assessment and economic analysis of high speed rail operations. Staff and Associates of TranSys Research Ltd. are well-known in North America for their expertise in high speed ground transportation systems analysis. Our experience in these areas include: providing a critical review of high speed passenger system operating and maintenance cost estimates, and the systematic implications of alternative operating strategies for a provincial government; examination of the relative attractiveness of high-speed ground modes versus air for passenger travel in the Central Canada corridor for a federal agency; examination of the relative financial performance of maglev and 200 km/h rail in Montreal-Mirabel-Ottawa service for a federal agency; provision of analytical modelling tools and support services used to evaluate fleet and facilities sizing for a US state government sponsored evaluation of high speed rail alternatives; and the development of operation simulations and costing for provincial and federal sponsored examination of high speed rail in the Quebec City-Windsor corridor. These works are supported by proprietary analytical tools such as our Train Performance Calculator, Line Capacity Simulator and Life-Cycle Cost Model (LCCM).
