Track/Train Dynamics
TranSys Research Ltd. has the tools and expertise to assess track/train dynamics issues including the examination of rail vehicle vertical and lateral motions and curving performance. These models have been used in assessments of the performance of vehicles for various clients. A detailed model capable of determining the effects of dynamic (impact) forces on track components has been developed by an associate of TranSys Research Ltd. and is available for our use. A research programme is currently underway to develop techniques to predict impending development of track defects using periodic screenings of track characteristics using data collected by a track evaluation car. Other activities in this area have included several analyses and the development/modification of multibody dynamic simulations and finite element analysis models used to examine rail vehicle derailments and crashworthiness.
